Former Commissioner Central Inoke Devo has been sentenced to nine months imprisonment after he was found guilty of three counts of abuse of office by High Court Judge Justice Daniel Gounder this afternoon.

Judge Gounder sentenced Devo to nine months on each of the three counts which is to be served concurrently.

This means Devo will spend a total nine months behind bars.

While handing down the sentence, Justice Gounder stated that Devo committed a serious abuse of authority and took advantage of his position.

The Judge took into account Devo's good character and also that he is a married man.

However Justice Gounder said he finds the offence very serious and that his punishment should indicate the role of responsibility which he was assigned to do as Commissioner Central.

Devo was initially charged with nine counts of abuse of office and official corruption and while Judge Gounder found him guilty on three counts of abuse of office, he acquitted him of the remaining six counts of abuse of office and official corruption charges earlier today.
