A team of detectives are combing the areas of Naqere, Savusavu to arrest the three men who allegedly killed a 49-year-old security officer, Sheik Mohammad Hassan and then robbed a sawmill owner on Sunday night.

Assistant Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri had confirmed that the police received a tip off that the three were hiding in bushes behind the sawmill.

49-year-old Hassan was guarding the sawmill premises when the three masked men broke in and allegedly assaulted him after tying his hands and legs.

The robbers then went inside the house of the sawmill owner who is a Korean national and also tied him up.

They then fled with more than $14,000 cash.

The sawmill owner managed to untie himself and went to check on Hussain who was motionless by this time.

A post mortem is expected soon.
