Designer Drugs Readily Available in Fiji
Crime stoppers Committee West Chairperson, Prudence Rouse, who is taking steps to try and bring the seriousness of the situation to the attention of the relevant authorities, said something must be done as the fact is that such "party drugs", as they are called, are available in Fiji.
Rouse met with senior police officers and Lautoka City Council officials including the Mayor yesterday and revealed that they have come across five cases where young girls have had their drinks spiked and were allegedly raped.
She said major awareness campaigns must be carried out to warn young girls and women and all members of the public to take precautions while out clubbing, however, it may be something that can not be completely eradicated as Fiji is a tourist destination.
Senior Police Officers who was at the meeting yesterday has refused to comment on the matter at this stage. Questions sent to the Deputy Police Commissioner Eroni Antonio earlier this week remain unanswered.
