‘Alifereti Dere needs assistance’.

Those were the words of Fiji sevens trainer in Hong Kong, former national sevens rep and coach Tomasi Cama Senior after our great comeback victory last night.

Cama said Dere will need the necessary assistance if we are to claim the 7s series and the last World Cup title in Moscow.

Fijivillage asked the former galloping wing about his son, Tomasi Cama Junior’s involvement with the All Blacks 7s team when they met in the semifinal.

Speaking from his Marco Polo hotel room in Hong Kong today Cama added that he could not hold back his tears when he hugged Dere after Fiji won the final last night.

Cama has declared his availability if he is needed for further assistance.

Meanwhile, FRU High Performance Unit General Manager Mike Ryan said they will have to wait for the team’s report and it will be up to Dere if he needs assistance.

After the win last night the national side moves up to second spot on the IRB 7s series standing.

Fiji now has 88 points while New Zealand is still leading with 113 points.

Samoa is in third place with 84 points and South Africa is fourth with 78 points.

The sevens series now moves to Japan this weekend where Fiji is pooled with Portugal, South Africa and Spain.

Fiji plays South Africa in the first pool match at 1.44pm Saturday.
