Dere is new Fiji 7s coach
Dere and Waqa will now prepare the Fiji Sevens Team for the opening tournament of the IRB Sevens Series in Australia in Gold Coast.
The FRU said they have also taken into account that Dere may face some issues when the team goes to the Australia and NZ tournaments as he is a soldier.
Colonel Tikoitoga said the plan is for Dere and Waqa to prepare the national team and Waqa can take the team to Australia and NZ if Dere cannot get a visa due to the travel sanctions.
Tikoitoga said both coaches will have the final say on the selection of players.
And we can expect some big changes in our style of play as Alifereti Dere wants his players to focus on running rugby which Fiji is known for.
The Fiji Sevens Team will march into camp this Wednesday.
