As dengue cases continue to rise from late last year, the National Adviser for communicable diseases, Dr. Mike Kama said they will continue with the massive dengue spraying in the hot-spot areas.
He said they have created a dengue spraying cycle and have a time schedule for spraying.
Dr. Kama said spraying started before the clean-up campaign and will continue after the campaign.
Meanwhile, Director Epidemiology Dr. Devina Nand said people should not use homemade remedies and go to hospital if they have any dengue like symptoms.
Dr Nand said dengue fever is a virus and treatment can only be done in hospitals.
The symptoms of Dengue fever range from a mild self limiting fever, to severe disease requiring hospitalization, to more life threatening complication of dengue haemorragic fever which includes bleeding and dengue shock syndrome.
Dr. Nand stresses that people should take Paracetamol and drink a lot of water if they have dengue like symptoms. People should not leave it till it's too late.
They also need to see a doctor.
Meanwhile, 15,446 suspected dengue cases have been reported to the Ministry of Health so far and there have been 12 confirmed deaths.
