It has been confirmed that seven people have died from the current dengue outbreak.

The Ministry of Information has confirmed this saying current statistics on dengue stands at 3,556 confirmed cases and seven confirmed deaths. 

According to a Government statement, the Ministry of Health is carrying out an extensive clean-up campaign in various parts of the country as part of efforts to avoid water-borne diseases. 

Health Minister, Dr. Neil Sharma said the risk of dengue infection will continue for a few days after the heavy downpour experienced recently.

He said people should take heed of their advisories and become proactive by cleaning up their compounds.

Meanwhile, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Honolulu and Puerto Rico has also provided technical assistance to the Health Ministry in terms of expertise assessment and surveillance.
