There are now 139 confirmed cases of dengue in the Central/ Eastern Division with an average of 40 to 50 new cases reported on a daily basis over the last week.
General Manager Community Health Central, Eastern Dr. Sala Saketa confirmed to Legend FM that these cases are confined to the Suva and Rewa areas at the moment.
The Health Officials are still trying to get confirmation on how many people are admitted due to dengue fever in the hospitals in the Central Eastern Division.
People should take precautionary measures as Dengue Fever cases in the Western division alone now stands at 80.
The Divisional Medical Officer Western Dr Tharid Ali said they are currently receiving 20 cases of dengue daily and most of the cases reported are from the Sigatoka and Lautoka Hospitals.
Ali said Lautoka Hospital sees 12 patients and Sigatoka 6 patients daily suffering from Dengue. He said currently 3 people with severe dengue are admitted at the Sigatoka Hospital while 7 are admitted at the Lautoka Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Northern Division had no reported cases of Dengue while the Health Department in the Central/Eastern division is currently compiling a report on the number of cases.
