The demand for housing in Fiji is increasing and this year alone Housing Authority (HA) has developed a 5 year land and housing development plan, part of their strategic plan to meet the demands of the market.

In a statement, Chief Executive Housing Authority Alipate Naiorosui said HA is one of the largest suppliers of loans and houses and would focus on new developments for the Central, West and Northern divisions.

Naiorosui said HA is aiming to develop close to 10,000 new lots over the next 5 years and an average of about 2,000 lots per annum.

He adds negotiations are underway to purchase new lands.

Meanwhile, in the Housing Authority history the development of housing projects for Tacirua Heights would be the biggest development with close to 8-10,000 people residing there.

Although Exim Bank in China has approved the loan, the matter is before the Commerce Ministry in China. Seventy million has been allocated from the Chinese soft loan for the Tacirua development.
