As of the 18th of this month, it will be compulsory for bus drivers to give tickets to their passengers or face a minimum penalty of $50 or 3 months imprisonment will be levied if this is not done.

The penalty also applies to bus drivers and passengers alike and comes into effect from October 18 after necessary awareness is carried out throughout the nation.

That is the revelation from the Land Transport Authority as they launched the Bus Ticketing Campaign this afternoon.

Chairman Greg Lawlor said the passengers have to demand their tickets as they face the penalty of a minimum of $50 or a maximum of $500 and this campaign involves three simple rules.
