The Fiji Delegation to the Shanghai expo in China, led by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama, will address some 200 prospective Chinese investors today in an attempt to entice them to come to Fiji.
Speaking from Shanghai, Attorney General and Minister for Trade Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum said this will give them the ideal opportunity to showcase what Fiji has to offer.
Sayed Khaiyum also revealed that a travel guide book, printed in the local Chinese dialect was also launched and will be distributed at the expo.
Meanwhile, Tourism Fiji CEO Josefa Tuamoto said he is optimistic of Fiji's tourism levels given the recent trend in Asian arrivals from China.
He said a growth of 50% can be further stretched given the recent incentives in place such as direct flights and strong marketing plans.
Given the different markets for Tourism Fiji, Tuamoto added that while the Asian market is new, their marketing strategies in China and in Asia will definitely be adjusted according to the market.
