Fiji’s Sportsman of the Year Iliesa Delana wants to take part in the 100 and 200 metres sprints in future tournaments but he will need a bionic leg.
Delana said after winning a Paralympic gold in the F42 High Jump in London last year, he decided to feature on the tracks as well.
Delana added he understands that getting a bionic leg is expensive.
When questioned on this issue, Digicel Fiji CEO Maurice McCarthy said they cannot presume anything as Delana is yet to sit down with them and discuss this issue.
McCarthy also said that at the end of the day it is all about what Delana wants.
Meanwhile, Delana was hosted to a morning tea and handed a gift by the Digicel staff after he was crowned Fiji’s first ever male athlete to win the Sportsman of the Year award back-to-back.
