Golden Boy Iliesa Delana has received $20,000 from his sponsor Digicel Fiji and has also been given free Digicel to Digicel calls for life for being the first paralympian to win a gold medal for Fiji in London.
Digicel Chief Executive Officer David Butler said it was a proud moment for them seeing Delana achieve his dream.
Delana who was accompanied by his aunt Lice Bulusui and coach Fred Fatiaki said he is thankful to his sponsor for supporting him and sports in the country.
Delana added now he will not have to worry about walking to training as he has more than enough money to support him but he will make sure that he uses the money wisely.
Digicel Fiji sevens captain Setefano Cakau said Delana’s win will be a motivating factor for the side ahead of the Gold Coast sevens next month.
Meanwhile, Digicel also announced today a $20,000 funding for the 2012 Fiji Paralympic Games which will be held in November.
