Iliesa Delana and coach Fred Fatiaki have created history by winning back to back awards at the Fiji Sports Award for the Fiji Paralympic last night.

Fatiaki won the Coach of the year award while Delana won the Sportsman of the year award.

Delana beat others like Leslie Copeland, Metuisela Talebula, Manueli Tulo and Robert Elder to win the award.

Delana said winning the award again is special to him as this will boost the upcoming Paralympics athletes.

He said that people will always face hardships in life but that should not stop them.


Meanwhile weightlifting stole the show winning six awards which also included Maria Liku winning the Sportswoman of the year award.

The Young Male Athlete of the year award went to Suva Grammar School student Tevita Takayawa while Young Female Athlete of the year award went to Matelita Buadromo.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama was the chief guest last night.
