The Water Bottling Companies in the country have requested the Finance Ministry to defer the implementation of export and excise duty on bottled water until the matter is resolved.
Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority CEO Jitoko Tikolevu confirmed to Fijivillage news that this request will be assessed on a company by company basis and they have been told to provide the necessary information.
Spokesperson for the ten companies, Island Chill Director Jay Dayal confirmed that no resolution was reached at the meeting with Chaudhry this morning.
Dayal confirms Operations and sales of bottling companies remains suspended. Meanwhile, several of the individual companies when contacted by Fijivillage news refused to comment and referred all queries to Dayal.
