“Let your tackles be counted”.
That is the message of former Flying Fijians coach Ilivasi Tabua to the Digicel Fiji Sevens team with only 2 days remaining for the New Zealand Sevens to kickoff in Wellington.
Tabua, who played for the Australian Sevens team in the final of the inaugural Sevens Rugby World Cup in 1993, said Fiji’s biggest weakness is defending their try-line.
He added that assistant coach Etuate Waqa’s biggest assignment is trying to work out ways on how to stop their pool opponents, Wales and Argentina, who have exposed their defense system in their last IRB Sevens outing.
Tabua will be the guest in a talkback show on our sister station Viti FM before and after Fiji’s pool games.
Fiji will play Argentina at 12.44pm this Friday in its first match of the New Zealand Sevens.
At 3.40pm, they will take on Tonga and in its last pool match Fiji will play Wales at 8.12pm.
