The Consumer Council of Fiji has welcomed the General Code of Practice for Advertisements and Code for Advertising to Children in the Media Industry Development Decree 2010.
Chief Executive Officer Premila Kumar said this has been a problem for the council because of numerous complaints from the public on misleading and deceptive advertisements.
Kumar said their main concerns were the exploitation of children in advertisements.
Kumar also said that this will ensure media organizations are more responsible in selecting advertisements for broadcast and publications.
