A thirty percent decrease in the workforce in the Public service is expected by next year.
That is the revelation from the Head of the Strategic Framework for Change, Filimoni Kau revealing that major changes will take place in the Public Sector from next year, including a 30 percent reduction in the workforce and from now on, selection will be based on merit.
Kau added that the key target for Government is to develop the Constitution by 2013 and extensive public consultation is set to begin in September 2012.
In terms of the Electoral Reform, Kau has confirmed that Elections in 2014 will now be held under a new electoral system.
Kau stressed that other reforms include the diversements of Government Shares, review of Telecom, deregulation of FEA and the Corporatization process of the Water Authority.
