The Consumer Council of Fiji is now calling on the Fiji Bus Operators Association to decrease the bus fare after another reduction in fuel prices.
CEO Premila Kumar said LTA should intervene and look at what will be best for the consumer.
Kumar added with this decrease in fuel price the bus companies are expected to make a lot of savings although they know that certain percentage of the bus fare does not end up with them.
Yesterday, Fiji Bus Operators Association President Pryara Singh said they welcome the reduction but they have to wait for the accountants to return to them regarding the decrease in bus fares.
As of today, a litre of unleaded fuel will cost $1.45 which is a drop of 13 cents while diesel will cost $1.34. Diesel currently costs $1.51 a litre and this change will see a drop of 17 cents.
Kerosene will now cost $1.05 a litre, a reduction of 23 cents and pre-mix outboard fuel will cost $1.34 a litre, recording a 15 cents drop.
