Sigatoka Police are investigating the death of a man whose partly decomposed body was found floating in the Sigatoka River at around lunch time yesterday.
Assistant Spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri had confirmed that his body was discovered by a villager near Nawamagi village.
The public is being called on to contact police if they have any information regarding the death of a man whose partly decomposed body was found floating in the Sigatoka River at around lunch time yesterday or if they have any family members have been missing.
The body is at the Sigatoka hospital awaiting a post mortem.
Meanwhile, a 23 year old villager of Koro Island is the latest drowning victim.
Sokomuri said the villager went out spear diving with some of his friends over weekend and was found missing after awhile.
A search was conducted and his body was found a few meters away.
A post mortem is expected to be conducted on tomorrow.
The drowning toll for this year is now 16 compared to 21 during the same period last year.
