Friday evening Fiji Time, will be when rugby fans will learn whether rugby will regain its place, albeit sevens, at the Olympic Games.

The International Olympic Committee is to vote on recommendations that were made in August which included a place for sevens at the 2016 Games in Brazil.

Chief executive of the International Rugby Board Mike Miller said he does not think people realize yet how big this could be for rugby.

The Olympic Games is the biggest stage in the world for sport.

We have 116 members, there are 205 nations involved in the Olympics, so right away you have to imagine that a number of those countries will say, we want to join the rugby revolution, we want to set up a union.

He said there are medal opportunities and that's what countries want to see.

Golf is also up for inclusion and it will be voted for first with Sevens to follow.
