After months of scrutiny the Commerce Commission is expected to make a major announcement in relation to the interconnectivity rates charged by telecommunication providers in the country this week.
The interconnectivity rates are charged between individual telecom providers to allow connection between different networks.
Commerce Commission Chairman Dr Mahendra Reddy said the telecom operators have been informed and all details will be made public later this week.
Dr. Reddy added that they have arrived at the interconnection rates to be charged after caring out a market power study on the telecommunication providers.
He said they will also map out the rates to be charged between the telecom providers for the next three years and how it will be controlled and monitored.
Meanwhile, talks continue between Digicel Fiji Limited and Telecom Fiji Limited over outstanding payments between the two parties on the interconnectivity arrangements made between them in October 2007.
