The Cakobau family has made a decision today on the new Turaga na Vunivalu of Bau however they will not release the name immediately as traditional protocol will have to be followed.
The Turaga Tunitoga Ratu Veiwili Komaitai who chaired the meeting said that he will first inform the Vanua on the decision made by the Tui Kaba Clan.
Ratu Veiwili told Fijivillage that he cannot make any further comments regarding the meeting.
The Tui Kaba clan has to appoint the next Vunivalu as the title has been vacant since 1989 when Ratu Sir George Cakobau passed away.
Ratu Joji Cakobau is the eldest son of the late Ratu Sir George Cakobau from his first marriage.
Ratu Epenisa Cakobau is the eldest son from his second marriage.
Ratu Sir George Cakobau's eldest child is Adi Samanunu Talakuli.
The Turaga na Vunivalu ni Bau is also the Paramount Chief of the Kubuna Confederacy.
It has been stated that the holder of the title must be a high ranking member of the Tui Kaba clan.
