Dec06 Judgment Almost Complete
Reliable Sources have confirmed to Fijivillage that the three Judges, Acting Chief Justice Anthony Gates, Justice John Byrne and Justice Davendra Pathik have drawn up their seperate judgements and will now try and consolidate their findings into one ruling which is expected to be delivered soon.
Our sources also say that the Judges are not bothered about the concerns of various NGOs and Political parties who are alleging a deliberate delay on their part in coming out with a ruling.
They say the Judges have also been engaged in other important cases in the appeals court, relating to the dispute over the retirement age in the civil service and the issue of Fiji Times Publisher Evan Hannah's deportation. But our sources say the Judges have constantly worked deep into the night on a daily basis to try and deliver the crucial ruling in a timely manner having to assess huge piles of documents submitted during the trial. It has also been confirmed that the three Judges will decide prior to delivering their ruling whether the media will be permitted to air the Judgement live as it is a matter of national interest and they want the public to be informed immediately and directly from them.
