The Commissioner of Corrections Services has ordered a full investigation after the death of 61-year-old remand inmate Virendra Shankar.
Shankar was found dead in his cell block yesterday afternoon.
The discovery was made by his cellmates when they returned to their cells after the afternoon church service and realized he was missing.
Shankar had attended the morning church service but chose to remain in his cell when his cellmates left for the afternoon service.
Shankar was remanded in custody on the 28th of last month for the case of an alleged murder in Valelevu.
