Australia coach Robbie Deans confirmed a Wallabies recall for veteran flanker George Smith could happen against the Lions this year.

The 110 Test veteran, who has been granted a loan extension by his Japanese club until the end of the Super Rugby season, was outstanding as the Brumbies clung on for a 19-19 draw against the Reds in Brisbane on Saturday.

The Brumbies are now on top of the overall Super Rugby standings and the Australian conference with 35 points after round 10.

The Blues are second with 31 points on the overall standings and leads the New Zealand conference.

The Bulls are on top of the South African conference with 28 points and are third on the overall standings.

Meanwhile, the Stormers will face the Hurricanes at 7:35pm this Friday while the Reds will host the Blues at 9:40pm.
