With the increase in HIV/AIDS worldwide and in Fiji, a day has been allocated to raise awareness on the need for people to take more responsibility of their lives.

World Contraception Day which is celebrated on the 26th of September, with the theme "Your Life, Your Body, Your Choice" is a worldwide initiative to educate sexually active people on the need to be more careful.

The event which will be celebrated in Fiji by Marie Stoppes International and Centre Manager Atunaisa Dokonivalu said there is a need for more education on this issue as more young people are becoming sexually active.

A total of 265 people have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in Fiji.
