As of 3am this morning, the centre of Hurricane Daman was located, roughly at 10 kilometres to the East South East of Cikobia.
This has been confirmed by the Nadi Weather Office Deputy Director, Alipate Waqaicelua who adds that unfortunately Cikobia would have felt the full brunt of the hurricane force winds.
The intensity of winds close to the centre of the hurricane is estimated at 160 kilometres per hour with gusts of 240 kilometres per hour.
The cyclone is moving South East at around 20 kilometres per hour.
Waqaicelua goes on to say that the cyclone moving at this speed and at this intensity should indicate an early exit from these parts.
However, he states that it does not necessarily mean that the hurricane has left Fiji.
Waqaicelua also said that at this stage, it is highly unlikely that the hurricane will curve.
