Close to 300 jobs will be created during the construction of the new Nadarivatu Hydro power station.

Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) Chief Executive Hasmukh Patel revealed that at the moment they have about 70 people employed at the site building tents and camps, with this number expected to rise towards the end of the year.

The power station which is expected to supply majority of the power supply to the Viti Levu, will take 3 years to complete and will see the construction of the Power station and an underground tunnel.

The station is expected to be up and running by mid 2011 after the Chinese Development Bank signed a $150 million deal with the FEA.
