The Daily Post has told the High Court of its intentions to change its guilty plea in the case taken against the newspaper company by the Attorney General's Chambers for alleged contempt of court.

When the case was called this morning, the Court was informed that the Daily Post had changed its legal counsel and now wished to vacate its earlier guilty plea and will file the necessary documents on the matter today.

Solicitor General Christopher Pryde raised concerns that it was not acceptable to file affidavits 24 hours before a hearing and that his office was yet to be served any notice.

The Court also noted that Daily Post had been directed to file the necessary documents in December last year, which they failed to do.

The contempt of court proceedings are in respect of an article published by the newspaper in October last year in the Letters to the Editor, where the author had criticized the High Court Judgment in the Qarase vs Bainimarama case.
