The Director of Public Prosecutions Office has prosecuted approximately 38 cases related to child abuse for this year alone.
This was revealed at the launch of Anti Trafficking Website by DPP's Ana Tuiketei yesterday, which is aimed at combating Commercial Sexual Exploitation of children in Fiji.
Tuiketei said the youngest victim of child abuse in the country was 2 and a half years, while the youngest perpetrator was 16 years, the eldest was 60 years.
She said their office has prosecuted 8 cases in the High Court and 30 cases in the Magistrates court this year.
Meanwhile, Save the Children Fiji Chief Executive Officer, Chandra Shekhar said several studies carried out shows that children are exploited for commercial sex trade and this needs to be stopped.
The website will provide information on Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, Trafficking and Commercial Exploitation of children in Fiji.
