The Suva High Court today demanded five accused charged for the brutal murder of Tevita Malasebe to present assurities for them who are credible in society and who have authority on them.
Judge Nazhat Shamim ordered Lote Vulaca, Maika Rauqera, Rusiate Korovusere and Jone Cama to arrange for their assurities by next Friday.
DPP Lawyer Wilisoni Kurusagila questioned the credibilty of the current assurities for the five. He advised the court not to use wives and close family members as assurities as they won't be credible enough.
Defense Lawyer Semesa Karavaki who represented Lawyer Mahboob Raza asked the court for a week's time to arrange assurities for the five.
The other three accused Eronimo Susunikoro, Eramasi Naragei and Pita Matai already have their bail assurities.
The eight allegedly assaulted Malasebe to death in the Valelevu Police station. The case has been adjourned to next Friday.
