DPP consulted on whether charges can be laid
Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Nasir Ali has confirmed that a few files have already been sent to the DPP's office for an opinion whether charges could be laid based on the evidence they have gathered.
A team of CID officers have been tasked to complete the investigations.
ACP Ali when questioned whether any former cabinet minister's are being investigated in relation to the 2000 coup denied revealing anything only saying that they are still awaiting the DPP's reply.
Meanwhile, the investigations against Deposed Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase are progress. ACP Crime denied commenting on whether any formal reply has been received from Interpol after confirmation earlier that they were looking into an alleged request by Ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase for foreign intervention in Fiji.
Qarase has been under police investigation for allegedly calling for foreign Intervention before or around December 5th last year.
