DPP calls on media to report responsibly
Assistant Police Commissioner Crime Nazir Ali, who met with the DPP yesterday afternoon confirmed to Village News that various information, has been provided on these allegations and the DPP is now looking into it.
When approached by Village News, DPP Josaia Naigulevu said they stand by their statement issued earlier this week regarding the charges.
The DPP Office had earlier stated that it has preferred six charges against the accused and after the review of the evidence upon completion of Police investigations, the DPP will make appropriate decisions on the case.
Sources within the DPP's office also confirmed earlier that no charges have been dropped, and there was no confusion between the DPP and the police and the proper procedures were followed.
Meanwhile, the DPP said that while he is not aware of any directive issued for his arrest along with his Deputy Asishna Prasad as claimed by some media reports earlier, such irresponsible reporting can be disturbing.
