All Blacks Sevens captain DJ Forbes will become the most capped New Zealand player when he takes the field during the Scotland 7s this weekend.

Forbes will earn his 68th cap. He edges out Amasio Valence who retired on 67 caps and Lote Raikabula also on 67.

Forbes made his debut in 2006, and has been a regular member of the team, having also played in two World Cups and one Commonwealth Games.

The 31 year old remains on top form, named Player of the Tournament at the recent Hong Kong Sevens.

The All Blacks sevens team also features the selection of Crusaders wing Adam Whitelock, the only new cap in the side.

Coach Sir Gordon Tietjens said Whitelock comes into the side with the reputation of being the fittest Crusader and he was relentless in trial run leading up to the Scotland 7s.

The All Blacks Sevens lead the IRB Sevens World Series by seven points and faces South Africa, Samoa and Portugal in pool play.

The Scotland 7s kicks off this Saturday with the Vodafone Fiji 7s team playing Argentina at 9:30pm in their first pool match before taking on Kenya at 12:36am and Wales at 3:47am Sunday.

The quarter finals will be held at 10:58pm Sunday, semi finals at 2:58am Monday and the cup final at 5:50am Monday.
