All Blacks Sevens Captain DJ Forbes has been ruled out of this weekend=s Las Vegas Sevens and has been replaced by veteran Lote Raikabula.
Forbes sustained a mid foot sprain and fracture to his left foot during the team’s quarterfinal against Australia in the New Zealand 7s last week.
Scott Curry will now take over the captaincy role.
Raikabula has played more than 60 World Series tournaments since making his debut for the All Blacks Sevens in 2006 and has scored more than 100 tries.
The All Blacks Sevens is pooled against Fiji, Wales and Samoa.
Meanwhile, Fiji will face Samoa at 1.06pm and Wales at 4.02pm on Saturday in the Las Vegas tournament.
They will then meet New Zealand at 9.05am Sunday.
The Cup quarterfinals will be 1.14pm Sunday.
The Cup semis will kick off at 8.32am Monday while the final of the Las Vegas 7s will start at 11.25am Monday.
The defending Las Vegas Sevens champion is South Africa.
