DISMAC officials are now working closely with the management of the Fiji Sugar Co-operation and Fiji Pine, in making arrangements to shelter families who had their houses damaged by the flash flooding.
Principal DISMAC official Patilai Dobui said close to 10 families who live in the FSC quarters in Ba and Fiji Pine houses in Lololo in Lautoka, have been told by the Ministry of Health that they can no longer occupy their homes.
Meanwhile Dobui also revealed that close to 10,000 people have not received food rations in the Western division since the flash flooding a month ago.
Dobui said an estimated 120,000 thousand people were affected by flooding in the Western Division and they have assisted more than 90 percent of them. He added the difficulties they are facing in reaching those in the interior of the Western division.
More than 30,000 people were assisted in the Central division.
