The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions will not comment at this stage on whether any investigations will be carried out to verify who sent a press statement on behalf of the DPP's Office on Friday.

DPP Josaia Naigulevu and his Assistant Asishna Prasad are unaware of both the press statement that was sent last Friday and the one that was sent at 5.30pm yesterday afternoon relating to the murder case of Nimilote Verebasaga.

Asishna Prasad only told Village news that DPP will not comment on the matter at this stage, but will make an official statement on the matter later in the week.

It is understood that investigations are underway to ascertain the origin of the press statement issued on Friday regarding alleged interference in the Office of the DPP, which the DPP Josaia Naigulevu later said was not issued from his Office.

Another statement which does not carry a letter head or signature was issued yesterday relating to the charges against the Soldier implicated in the Nimilote Verebasaga case.

The statement claims that the Office of the DPP has had to intervene again to prefer charges in the outstanding case relating to the death.
