People living in the Yasawas, the western and northern parts of the country have been advised to brace themselves for the worst as a tropical cyclone alert remains in force for Fiji.

At around 6am, Tropical Cyclone Daman was located about 460 kilometres North West of Nadi.

Director Nadi Weather Office Rajendra Prasad said the cyclone is moving South West at around 20 kilometres per hour and is expected to move South East towards the Fiji group. The Yasawas, Mamanucas and western and northern parts of the country are expected to face the direct effect of the cyclone after 6 o’clock tonight.
