The current fare distribution system being used under the Free Bus fare Program will remain until the last day of Term Three.

Those are the words of Permanent Secretary Prime Minister's Office and Bus fare Committee Chairman, Lieutenant Colonel Pio Tikoduadua.

He said the committee is looking into a number of options with the final decision to be released to the public in due course.

Tikoduadua said they are exploring options like extending assistance to students who come to school in transport other than a bus, whether or not to continue to pay for the bus fares next year and at what distance from school should the children be for the government to subsidise their fare, amongst others.

He said they are trying to look for a more holistic approach to the free bus fare program adding the committee will be meeting next Friday, the first of a number of meetings to come up with a subsequent plan or otherwise for the existing bus fare distribution strategy.
