The Water Authority of Fiji said the current dry weather situation is mostly affecting the water dams in the Central and Northern Divisions.
CEO Opetaia Ravai said this is the reason why there are a lot of water cuts and low water pressure levels affecting these two divisions.
Ravai said they have a plan in place to ensure that people in these divisions continue to have water even with the current weather situation.
The Water Authority of Fiji also organised a media tour to the Waimanu river where the water level has gone down.
Due to the dry weather period the Waimanu river is now the main source of water and the Water Authority of Fiji has built what is called a coffer dam which is sandbags rimming the intake area from the Waimanu river that has created a pond.
This is now deep enough to protect the pumps.
With the Savura stream flowing at less than 50% of its capacity, the Waimanu river is now topping up water to the Savura stream.
The Savura stream is then treated at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant which then feeds a major part of Suva.
According to Ravai some dams in the Western Division are not at critical level yet.
However Ravai stressed that people should also be prepared for water disruptions from now until December.
Infrastructure Minister, Pio Tikoduadua is expected to comment next week.
