With Diwali just around the corner, the Fiji Sugar Corporation has extended their crushing timeline for the Penang Mill to next week.

FSC Chief Executive Deo Saran said they are extending the crushing period after receiving requests from cane farmers, and this has also been done to make sure that the over 1,800 farmers do not have any stand over cane resulting in wastage.

At the moment, FSC revealed that close to 3,000 tonnes of sugar is still in the field unharvested.

The crushing season is supposed to end tomorrow.
