The match between the Crusaders and the Hurricanes which is expected to be held at the ANZ Stadium in Suva is in doubt after the Crusaders players have chosen to play in front of their fans.

Desperate to win the Super Rugby title for the first time since 2008, the Crusaders players believe the task will be more complicated if they are forced to travel more at the sharp end of their season.

New Zealand Rugby Players' Association boss Rob Nichol said the seven times champion have a challenging draw to contend within the closing month of the round‑robin, meeting the Waratahs in Sydney, take on the Hurricanes in either Fiji or Nelson, Blues in Auckland and the Brumbies in Canberra.

Nichol added that there are a lot of performance factors that everyone needs to think about when they are on the road for an extra period of time.

It is also understood that some Crusaders players are frustrated that their board members seem to have such short memories.

While administrators from both franchises are keen to make history, and a bundle of money, by playing at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on May 29, the players remain reluctant to travel so close to the playoffs and have made it clear they want to play in front of their own fans at Nelson's Trafalgar Park.
