Crusaders captain Kieran Read is battling an ankle injury and could miss Super 15 rugby semifinal against the Stormers.
If Read is ruled out, Richie McCaw should come into the starting side at number eight.
In Super 15 rugby semifinals, Blues take on Reds at 9.40pm this Friday and Stormers host Crusaders at 3.05am this Sunday.
