He’s been chasing Dan Carter for years but first five Aaron Cruden is starting to look over his own shoulder as the battle intensifies for time in the All Blacks number 10 jersey.

Cruden’s returned from a month out with a knee problem to replace the injured Carter in the starting lineup for Sunday's Rugby Championship Test against the Pumas in Argentina.

But Cruden said there are other quality first five options in the squad, and there will be pressure on him to perform.

Meanwhile, veteran Andrew Hore gets the start at hooker pushing Dane Coles out of the side altogether.

The All Blacks face Argentina at 10.40am while the Wallabies meet the Springboks at 3am this Sunday.
