Ryan Crotty has been called into the All Blacks squad to replace the injured Francis Saili.

The Crusaders midfielder got a surprise call from All Blacks manager Darren Shand and was excited to join the national squad.

All Black coach Steve Hansen said the former New Zealand age grade representative was an obvious choice when Saili was ruled out.

The All Blacks will be travelling to Sydney to face the Wallabies in their opening match of the Rugby Championship this Saturday at 10pm.

Meanwhile, Argentina will meet the Springboks at 1am this Sunday.
