Crossing the Sigatoka river will be made easier for the students and teachers of Bemana Catholic Primary and secondary in Navosa as they have received yesterday a new wooden boat and an outboard engine.
Bemana Catholic Junior Secondary School Acting Principal Arieta Navuni said 20 students, teachers and villagers from Tuvu, Nalebaleba and Navula will benefit from these services daily.
Navuni said during flooding, students face difficulties in crossing the Sigatoka river to make their way to school.
The project was officially hand over the students, teachers and management of the school by the Head of the European Union Delegation for the Pacific Wiepke van der Goot which funded the assistance by the Fiji Education Sector Programme through the European Union at a cost of $400,000.
