The Crusaders and All Blacks, loosehead Wyatt Crockett in particular, have been accused of illegal scrummaging as they look to impose their dominance on another South African side.
Fresh off decimating the Lions and Cheetahs in Christchurch, the Crusaders are preparing to take on the Bulls in Pretoria this weekend.
But they have arrived in South Africa to a brewing storm with noted former test referee Jonathan Kaplan again pointing the finger at their scrum tactics.
In his column on his RateTheRef.com website, Kaplan has repeatedly attacked Crockett and the red and blacks’ scrum work.
Kaplan feels the alignment of the Crusaders’ scrum isn’t square, offering Crockett an advantage over his propping opposite who is penalized for boring inward.
The Crusaders will play the Bulls at 5.10am this Sunday.
