Critics don’t want a united Fiji
Commodore Bainimarama also said the work of formulating the Charter will be opposed by those who supported the events of 2000.
He said people who benefit through the racially divided policies will definitely oppose the interim government's objectives.
Meanwhile the Rewa province's council of chiefs has rejected the proposed People's Charter based on the grounds that it wants to create a non racial Fiji.
Rewa's Bose Vanua Spokesman, Ro Dona Taka-laiyale said the Rewa chiefs know that the Fijian people as a race will not be recognised as a community and separate entity, if we have a non racial Fiji.
Ro Dona said the chiefs of Rewa believe that the Charter should be rejected by the Fijians.
Ro Dona also said that the chiefs of Rewa will not accept the outcomes of the review of the GCC by the Interim government appointed committee since the committee is appointed by a illegal regime.
Ro Dona also said that the Bose Vanua of Rewa has resolved in a meeting on Wednesday that they will boycott any referendum or elections which may be conducted in relation to the Charter. He also reveals that Rewa will not participate in any reconstituted GCC arising out of the recommendations of the committee.
Ro Dona said the People's Charter will be inconsistent with the 1997 constitution where race is recognized as an integral element of the nation of Fiji.
