We need a crisis budget to help turn the economy around.
Those are the words of the executive member of the Footwear Textile and Clothing Council Mark Hallabe as we await the announcement of the 2009 National Budget tomorrow.
Hallabe said a crisis budget has worked in the past and should be the best way to bring about immediate changes.
And while the garment industry, which still supports 10,000 employees, has not received any direct assistance, Hallabe believes that the tax rebate on export earnings should be extended for longer periods and not just on an annually basis.
